I disagree. There is a presumption here that the virus only mails to one member of an
address book. Most modern viruses are now written to mail to the first 50 entries in
an address book. Yes, you'd get the notification that it went out to your one, dummy
address, but it still could have propagated to several entries in the address book.
Unfortunately, diligent updates of .dat files and careful scrutiny of emails and
monitoring of system updates via open ports seems to be the only effective measures
when dealing with modern viruses.
