We've been recieving and sending mail for months now without any changes to the firewall, so, I don't believe that is the cause of this.  I'm still trying to find out anything else that is going on with port 25 though, just to make sure.

The smtp server will connect to any incoming request on port 25 regardless of where it's coming from.  Is it possible that a firewall is blocking the connection somewhere?

Subject: [iMS] OpenNMS Intermittently Fails

Our IMS SMTP service is intermittently not answering service polls from OpenNMS.  We've never had an issue with email not being able to be sent to our servers, but this intermittent problem makes me think that if the service isn't answering for OpenNMS, then maybe possibly it's not answering when other mail servers try to send us email.  I was just wondering if anyone else has had this kind of issue, and if anyone can give me any direction in what to do to test and/or fix
