Have you tried stopping and starting the network manually
(/etc/rd.d/init.d/pcmcia stop (then start))?  If that works, then you'll
need to change how your modules load so that network is started AFTER
pcmcia.  You can do this by re-naming the S* symbolic links in
/etc/rc.d/rc3.d (the lower the number after S, the earlier it gets loaded).
