This is misleading. I'm sorry. The first 2405MB, is from the JS log 
stating the total software size.
The second number (3508MB) is from the jumpstart complaint that the FS 
is too small, it states that the
min. required size is 3508MB - I had given it 3072MB.

When I increase the size of the partition, to 4096, the error goes away, 
and interestingly enough, JS reports the total size of the software as 
2978MB.

This should have fit (although tight) in my 3072MB partition. No?

required.'.

I've always noticed that the 'min required' usually left quite a bit of 
space after the install was done.
 From my experience though, the total JS reports is usually very close 
to what 'df -k' reports after the install is  complete.
