A friend of mine at Sun has a system setup with a 4g CF that runs really 
well. He has used both IDE->CF and SATA->CF adapaters, both work fine.

You need to change the DMA writes for it to boot properly, if I remember 
correctly, but it's a nice little system on about $300 worth of hardware 
and it has built-in nvidia graphics, so the screen is very snappy.
