Cool. A couple of pointers. The Distribution constructor probably has automated a lot of stuff for you(including the liveCD stuff). You can leverage that work. The blastwave guys (Dennis Clarke mainly) are working on the Chinkara/Gazelle project, which aim to provide a minimal base for installation and other apps over the network. you might want to look into these projects.
