Ah yes, the dreaded Solaris 2 day patch release cycle.

You seem to be under the impression that a few additional packages will
result in much more additional patches compared to a core system that
doesn't have the package at all.  Statistically, it is very unlikely that
there would ever be a patch cluster released that affected only THOSE
drivers, and not other packages in the SUNWCmreq cluster.
