Oh come off it, an extra 5% of a typical current drive.  It's better to
allocate the space up front than for a newcomer to install, learn, find
out about LU and realise too late that a spare slice is required. 
Considering SXCE is on a 2 week release cycle and there aren't any
patches, LU is all but essential for any system one doesn't want to take
down for the duration of a cold upgrade.  More so when you discover
something has been broken in the new build.

This subject was given the once over a while back and the consensus was
better to have it than not.
