But, is Belenix different than this?

And we need to see few more installers - Mac OS, Red Hat Linux, AIX.

I know that there are plans for the new solaris install. But, I didn't know
that it has already started!!

Two things strike to my mind when I think of "Install Screens:
1. The first question that has to be asked is, whether the user want's to do
"Install" or "Upgrade" or "Repair".
If that is done, then we can skip all the sysid stuff in case of
"Upgrade".
2. Solaris Install GUI makes use of Java.
Do we really need to use Java here? Is it not making things slow?

And Solaris Install screens are not at all attractive!
For configuration part (sysid), we should go for a single screen with
multiple tabs.
If we have multiple tabs, then we need not have back or next or change
buttons.
In configuration, Solaris tries to get most of the things automatically
and if it gets some information by itself,
then it will not present that screen at all. This is not good.
It should present the screen and the value should be filled in. The user
should be allowed to edit the automatically recovered value.

And like "Windows XP", we can also have some ads which can be cycled
during installation.
Also, like Red Hat, we can have a side bar, which presents the help. If
this is done, we don't need to have a help button.

These are my personal views about Solaris Installer improvements.

Narendra
