Judy's instructions are for using BootCamp. I've never
tried that, in large part because Parallels or VMware
Fusion work just fine for me.

I'd actually say that Solaris (or Indiana) in a VM is
a better learning environment than on bare metal.
You have all of the same capabilities, basically, but
also a safety net to recover from the whoops factor.
