I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but does anyone know
if
drivers for Intel's Pro/1000MT gigabit PCI network interfaces are

I've installed Milax 0.3.2 on an E450 and it configures & uses the
   on-board hme0 interface but doesn't see either the Intel E100 (100
Mbit/s) or MT1000 gigabit PCI interface cards. I seem to remember
reading somewhere that drivers for Intel NICs were included with
Solaris 10 - would it be possible to install the driver from Sol 10
and use this with Milax/OSOL or would I be better off getting a
   Sun-supported gigabit NIC?

I'd expect to see the e1000g driver under /kernel/drv/sparcv9.
That should attach and work just fine with your card, though
it's certainly possible that you might have to check your driver
aliases and update via update_drv.

This is missing from /kernel/drv/sparcv9 so I'll see if I can find it
elsewhere.

Thanks for the info!

Milax was a 'minimal' OSOL derivative, which may be why you don't have it.
This is pkg info:

Also, from *http://www.milax.org/?p=50 * thisMilaX Note
(0.3.2)<http://www.milax.org/?p=50>...
"Network modules moved to the /usr/kernel/drv that has reduced the miniroot
size." .....

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you with this, the replacement PRO/1000 NIC arrived only yesterday. Then even though I'd tested the card on a Linux box first, I had some problems when I put it into the E450 - on power-on, it did nothing. Eventually I found that if I took out a PCI USB card that was fitted to this system, it would come up normally so I assume this was due to some sort of PCI conflict (the USB card works fine under Sol 9).

The e1000g driver does exist in /usr/kernel/drv/sparcv9 but how do I add the prtpicl utility using the command line on a system with no X and no 'pkg' utility? pkgadd is installed but I'm sure this cannot be used to install IPS packages so it looks as if I've hit a dead end.
