Much of the rationale behind RFC 2804 would apply equally here. => it is a very different issue than wiretapping, here the problem is the proposed mechanisms are clearly against the end-user privacy. So even without the legal problem at some places some of us already believe this (HOST_ID stuff) is bad idea.
