I don't believe this is the case. SPs still have a UNI demarcation between the home and the network. SPs desire a standardized protocol which matches to their existing operational experience here.
Beyond that, off-the-shelf CPE is still relevant.
Well, in that case it makes sense to consider the bigger picture and possibly select a solution that means more work in the short term but which better addresses longer-term issues.
