I believe there are sound operational reasons for why they have
done so.
And I have done my best to reflect some of those during this debate.
However, they also seem to be interested in something future proof.
Apart from numerous other issues, nobody has been able to explain
what doing this with DHCP will mean for IPv6 (with or without IPv4
being present).
In my opinion, until that happens to a satisfactory degree, it's
impossible to continue.
