Having the ability to control what alerts are sent for what states would be fine for me. I just don't like having to live with some default decision about what's an alarm and what's down.
I realize that the SNMP probe is more feature-full than the other probes, so it would be nice to have a little more control over those features - including the ability to disable those that I don't consider a feature. Right now the SNMP probes magically turn into Ping probes when SNMP contact is lost. I'd like to be able to have the SNMP probe go red when a device becomes unreachable via SNMP, just like when an IMAP or DNS probe goes red when those services become unavailable. If I want to monitor network reachability, I'll use a Ping probe. The more knobs to tweak the better! :) -- matt > That could become confusing for some. > Even though SNMP is used to monitor the equipment, I don't think the device should > be up or down.
