Since Intermapper gets the traffic status every x minutes, is there a way
to archive all this information, similar to MRTG / RRDtool?? If I create
graphs for every single port, I think that would do it, but turning
everything on manually is quite the task, especially dealing with about 200
switches, each with at least 24 ports.
My expectations would be that over time, the precision of this information
will "degrade" (similar to the RRD and MRTG model), so after a month, the
data becomes an hourly average or something.
Is this possibly being looked into for if/when IM moves to an external
(i.e. MySQL) database?
I've written a home-grown system that keeps this type of data, similar to
Cacti. Currently, its gathering about 12 pieces of data every 5 minutes
for 5885 ports spread across 342 devices, and putting them in RRD
databases. But I'd like to have all this under one roof
(Intermapper). Plus, I don't think mine is very CPU friendly, as it whacks
on the CPU of the box its running on for 3 minutes (100%).
