I'd also be interested in a solution for this.
An alarm that "Serial2/0/1:0" on a device is down isn't nearly as useful
as an alarm for "Serial2/0/1:0 to Acme Corp.",
It seems like the alarm should use the interface label, so if the label
is "<Port Name> to Acme Corp." then that's what the alarm text would
contain.
