William....

What I do is setup a different probe for each Port that I want to monitor and
then link them to a main Ping/SNMP for a device that way if the whole box goes
down I only get one notification and not 5. This also helps me to know which
Port/service died on a device to help in fixing it.

Thanks

John

Subject: [IM-Talk] multiple probes?

Forgive me if I'm dense or missing something obvious in the docs, but
what do folks do if they want to probe multiple services on a given
machine? Do you have to have a separate box for each probe?

For instance, if I have a mail server, I might want to monitor network
traffic stats, SMTP, POP3, IMAP, possibly the SSL versions of these
services, etc. Is there a way to combine these probes within a single
  target device?
