Here are some additional enhancements I'd like to see in Intermapper 1. When displaying a SNMP table, and the mib has been imported to Intermapper, the returned Integer values are being substituted with their "human understandable" counterpart e.g. instead of displaying a "6" for the online status of my Informix server, it is auto-replaced with the human-readable word "Online." as contained in the mib. I'd like to see this "feature" extended to the display of standard snmp-device-variables, thus cutting down on having to build the calculation myself.
Having the ability to pull the information from the mib, and display it directly, would save me having to build something like this: idsStatus, ($onServerMode=1)?"Initializing":($onServerMode=2)?"Quiescent":($onServerMode=3)?"Fast Recovery":($onServerMode=4)?"Backing Up":($onServerMode=5)?"Shutting Down":($onServerMode=6)?"Online":"(!)Unknown Status Code", CALCULATION 2. SNMP Table Views - When pausing over a column heading with the mouse pointer, have a pop-up that gets, and then displays, the description as contained in the mib. e.g. I have the Column Heading that reads "status", but mousing over then displays the full description "The current operating mode of the server." from the mib. 3. Probe Builder - With mib support now, it would be very handy to have a tool that could build the basics of a probe i.e. open the mib in this tool, check-off the tables you'd like to include in the "on-demand" section, check-off the OID's you'd like in the snmp-variables, and click on "build probe." What you'd wind up with is the shell of a probe that could then be customized further. 4. Screen Saver plug-in and/or Widget for OS X (or others) that can be configured to point at an Intermapper server and will display, for example, all current outages. best, Jeff ____________________________________________________________________ List archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/intermapper-talk%40list.dartware.com/ To unsubscribe: send email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
