Hi Brian,

InterMapper only polls the interfaces that are visible on the map. So if you chose to Hide some interfaces, they are not polled.

You can see this easily on a switch: if you have a hidden interface that have no link, and you put in a cable making a link with another device, the Down does not change to Up.. so the interface is not polled.

So, as Andrey just wrote, maybe the Feat.Req. should be to simply be able to Not show the interfaces when you add the device, but only probe the device for the iftable and make it available in the Interface List.

And then I might add: Could it be possible to add a 'Reprobe All' button in the Interfaces Window, so it's possible to detect up/down changes while working with that window????

Dartware...

I am not sure how feasible this is but it would GREATLY benefit us.

Is there a way under the "Set Info / Set behavior" you can add a switch
that would allow us to turn off the probing of sub-interfaces? I have
dozens of routers that have hundreds of sub-interfaces and I do not need to probe these. Also it slows down the functionality of the maps when we
are trying to work with them.

If it only probed the main interfaces that would speed things up
tremendously. We currently delete all of the sub-interfaces so that only
the main interfaces exist but that also prevents us from reprobing the
device as this will cause it to rediscover all of the sub-interfaces.

Maybe you have another work around for this problem...
