We are currently running IM 5.0.5 on a MacOSX 10.5.5 server, displaying just one map on the same device. Starting a four or five "version updates" ago, the map randomly grays out, and displays "Not Connected to the InterMapper Server" in the center, along with an audible error alert. Sometimes a "reconnection" happens automatically after a minute or so, but more often than not, IM Server must be quit and restarted. So far, we cannot identify what is causing the problem...
