-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I have a feature request that would likely solve a nuisance for more than just us.
We do regular password changes that include the SNMP read community on all of our devices. After doing this we must go through each map and change the community for all probes. This is very tedious and time consuming given our 30+ maps and 2000+ devices/probes. Changing the "Default" SNMP community in the Server Settings does a great job of fixing any NEW probes, but all old probes still use the previous community and must be changed by hand. (I realize I can select multiple probes and change the community in bulk per map, but I find this cumbersome and still somewhat tedious.) My request is kind of an AND/OR, as the first would be a great help, and the second would be even better but likely more work for the Dartware Devs. 1) Have all probes that had the SNMP community populated from the one listed in Server Settings automatically update themselves with whatever is the "Default" at each poll run. Maybe using a check box for "Use Default SNMP Community" rather than just auto populate the text box at probe creation. AND/OR 2) As many will have different classes of devices with different communities, have an SNMP section where you can name different communities to be applied to devices. At the individual probe level you'll have two options. 1) Enter my own SNMP Community OR 2) Select a named Community as defined in Server Settings->SNMP to be used that will automatically be updated should I change the Named Community's value. This could be done with a checkbox that enables a Drop Down menu that lists the named Communities. When unchecked, a text box is available to set a Community for just this Probe/Device. Thanks for considering my "Request". /Ryan - -- Ryan M. Harden, BS, KC9IHX Office: 217-265-5192 CITES - Network Engineering Cell: 630-363-0365 2130 Digital Computer Lab Fax: 217-244-7089 1304 W.
