I did check that too.  This particular 3745 is doing other strange things 
including only displaying the serial interface links with SNMP traffic probe. 
Using the basic oid, I see Ethernet ports only. Cisco IOS 12.2. It may be 
hardware since other 3745 using same IOS work fine. 

I am only really writing here to discover if I missed something re IM. It 
starting to look like it is not an issue with IM. 

The comm string different is a good thought but throughly checked.
