What is the best way to trigger a traffic alert when interface traffic levels reach certain thresholds.
Basicly, I would like to be notified whenever selected/any interface traffic levels reach a particular level -- say 90% and 99% (actually any arbitrary threshold perhaps 50%, 75%, 85.5%, 93.75% ). There seems to be no way to set this within the context of the SNMP-Traffic probe. I seems to be possible to do it with the SNMP threshold probes, but it appears that one would need to create a separate probe for each interface -- an approach that will not scale well for us. The "map settings" "Thresholds" is tantalizingly close, but alas, there are no provisions for setting traffic levels relating to a device status. Off hand, it is not clear to me how traffic threshold events ought to affect into overall device status as sometimes the linkage has a significant impact on device operation and other times no so much. This begins to beg the question of a more selective mechanism for defining the affect link status has on a particular device representation. But on the other hand, from an operations point of view, I need some way for having link saturation brought to my attention. -Dave Cooley ____________________________________________________________________ List archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/intermapper-talk%40list.dartware.com/ To unsubscribe: send email to: [email protected]
