If I understand what you're asking correctly, what you're trying to do
isn't currently possible in InterMapper, beyond the options you've
already explored.

Alerting on individual interfaces is an oft-requested feature, however,
and may well show up on the roadmap soon. If you haven't already done
so, you might want to send a note to [email protected] with your vote
and use cases.
