Bonjour, We monitor a limited number of "important" IP phones (Mitel in our case).
We wrote a little bash script that extracts the IP address from the dhcp.leases file into a master list. It is rebuilt each night, after the regular Mitel health checks and phone maintenance (which might cause a phone reboot) are done.
Another bash script, which does the actual checking, is called by a custom InterMapper probe, goes through the IP list a returns a error is a phone is non-responsive. The bad phone name is returned by the probe so one probe is enough for the 100 (out of 1500) of so phones we check.

Hello all, I'm still a bit of a newb to InterMapper, and have searched these forums but not found an answer to my dilemma. One of our intentions for InterMapper was to aid in monitoring uptime on our Cisco VoIP phones. Unfortunately, with 1500 phones deployed, their dynamically assigned IP addresses are changing frequently enough that a simple Ping monitor spends its day crying wolf more often than not. What's the best way for us to monitor devices with dynamically assigned IP addresses? Would it be possible to monitor by MAC address for presence on the network, inside a specified IP range? Many thanks, Mike Beckett P.S. I've tried using the "call manager" probe on our Call Manager, but the results it reports seem bogus? -------------------- m2f -------------------- Read this topic online here: http://forums.dartware.com/viewtopic.php?p=3101#3101 ____________________________________________________________________ List archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/intermapper-talk%40list.dartware.com/ To unsubscribe: send email to: [email protected]
