The status sindow in the screen shot shows:

Reason: Total: 45
{$total :=45}
---

This could happen if you don't format the response from the command-line 
program properly. The description of the output is on this page:

I would try changing the program to make its output be the line below (the "\" 
as the first character on the output line is critical):

\{$total := 45} A string giving the desired probe output

Then your probe would have:

<command-display>
  \B5\Simple Probe Information\0P\
  Total: $total
</command-display>

The reason string shown will be "A string giving the desired probe output"
