InterMapper in a VM is a mixed bag -- my setup certainly isn't ideal, and has 
some issues owing to the ancient version of QEMU we run having a totally hosed 
RTC, but a properly configured VM (say VMware with DRS/HA) could provide quick 
and easy redundancy/HA for your monitoring system.
