This thread is little over 2years old... I doubt Lukas was meaning we
should do it in 5.2, especially since he gave the "RM OK", acting as
the 5.3 RM...

I am totally against this change for 5.2. 5.3 on the otherhand should
definitely make this finally happen.

as for Nathan's comment ..
there is some merit there .. i guess distro's do their own thang anyways? then again who ever takes this on can just start doing a production ini file, adding a commented line for development where ever relevant and we can then quickly decide if to split those entries into a separate development ini file or not .. (might also depend on how large the differences are)
