Pretty much the same result, isn't it? There are many voices in favor
of 5.7, for very good reasons (see the distros one for the most
important). An extension will be useless, no impact, defeat the main
goal of having a 5.7. And an extension will require much more work
than having 5.7, given that "the amount of work" is the main argument
against 5.7, I find it disturbing.
