Call for Publications Theme: The Critical Potential of Postcolonial Studies and Theories Publication: Świat i Słowo. Filologia, nauki społeczne, filozofia, teologia Date: Issue No. 26 (2016) Deadline: 31.5.2016 __________________________________________________ (Polska wersja poniżej) This special issue of the semestral Świat i Słowo (World and Word) is devoted to the critical potential of postcolonial studies and theories. Fundamental to the humanities, and thus to the world the humanities shape and are shaped by, they provide, we believe, an indispensable and thought-provoking means with which to approach and analyse both the traditional forms of colonization and their enduring legacies as well as its more contemporary, at times unacknowledged, manifestations. Opening up politically sensitive and attentive vantage points postcolonial studies and theories may help lay bare the various sites of deprivation and oppression that mar the present day realities. Hence, we are in particular interested in how the postcolonial perspective provides an analytical framework and creates a critical and political sensitivity that make it possible to examine and tackle the complex and pressing issues (political, economic, cultural, aesthetic) of the world we live in. We are also interested in the future of postcolonial studies (the possible critical paths it may/will take and new realms of analysis it will/may open) and in the ideological implications of postcolonial inquiry (its connections with psychoanalysis, cultural studies and Marxism) including its applications and/or relevance to the heterogeneous contexts of central and eastern Europe. We invite contributions that investigate the political potential of postcolonial critique across disciplinary divides and in fields including literature, culture and history. The language of the publication is Polish and English. Send abstracts, either in Polish or English, by 31 May, 2016. Notification of acceptance by 20 June, 2016. (2/2016) półrocznika „Świat i Słowo” wypełnią studia mieszczące się w ramach krytyki postkolonianej. Wybór tematyki podyktowało przekonanie, że pogłębianie refleksji nad szeroko rozumianą problematyką zależnościową jest jednym z najważniejszych zadań, przed jakimi stoi dzisiejsza humanistyka. Żyjemy w świecie, w którym analizy domagają się wciąż zarówno „klasyczne” formy kolonizacji (np. kolonializm imperiów europejskich XVI-XX wieku), jak i ich współczesne formy, często nieuświadomione (ucisk o podłożu kulturowym, ekonomicznym, płciowym itp.), powodując, że w wielu miejscach subaltern wciąż „nie może przemówić” (formuła Gayatri Spivak). Szczególnie chcielibyśmy pytać o: przyszłość badań postkolonialnych (możliwe perspektywy ich ewolucji, nowe obszary opisu), o światopoglądowe implikacje badań postkolonialnych (ich związek z psychoanalizą, badaniami kulturowymi, marksizmem itp.). W naszym zbiorze chcieliśmy też oddać głos badaczom zainteresowanym aplikacją narzędzi wypracowanych przez krytykę postkolonialną na grunt środkowoeuropejski, podzielających pogląd, iż również ten obszar stał się w przeszłości obszarem kolonizacji (także tzw. kolonizacji wewnętrznej), a jej różnorodne ślady wywierają wpływ na dzień dzisiejszy zamieszkujących go narodów. Prosimy o przesłanie propozycji (abstraktów) do 31 maja 2016. O decyzji w sprawie przyjęcia/nieprzyjęcia propozycji poinformujemy do dnia 20 czerwca 2016 roku.
