Hello all -

I am a US Citizen. More Orwellian nightmares:

I work in television. The scariest thing imaginable.
Though my next statement paints things in a broad stroke -- keep in mind that anything
dealing with people functioning as a group must be stated in broad strokes, regardelss
of the inndividuals that may make up that group - myself included:

What I see in the US is the perfect climate for populace control. What I see every
day is a populace that things the same, yet in which no one talks to one another.
What more could one ask for if one wanted to controll the people!!

---------

A second statement:
Any attrocity committed in the Americas, since at least the mid-1800's, has been at
the hands of the US Government, for the benefit of a small but powerful unelected
group of individuals, yet done in the Name of the People or thier Security.

Scary.

I believe in the Princibles of Democrecy and Freedom that my country was founded upon.
Sadly, I do not see those things prospering here. It is not the sole fault of this
current administration, yet the direction that this administration is leading us is
even further away from those ideals that we currently are, or ever have been.

This saddens me greatly. I would consider leaving (and I have a legitimate, though
not exercised, claim on another citizenship), yet I still have not seen a better place
to go. We are living in a Global Economy, and a Global Political Arena. What is done
here affects the whole rest of the World, whether we, or anyone else, likes it or not.

If I were given power today to change all this, I am not certain what could be done.
I have no solutions. But I believe that the only way I can see solutions being found
is through great effort and cooperation between nations. Again, it saddens me that my
country has been turning its back on old friendships, and new alike, at the first sign
of dissent. Democrecy is about finding compromise when people dissagree. Freedom is
earned through taking responsability for one's own actions.

I am glad that this community is so diverse.

Thank you.
