Yes. 

As far as I can see konqueror is interpretting that a seperate split is 
another virual display and therefore starting a new instance of 
konqueror.

two big reasons. 1 using the internal konqueror tabs gives status 
information on the page [EMAIL PROTECTED] loaded, 
2 creating a new ion tab tends to take the focus away from the current 
page which isn't what I want most of the time.
