I appreciate the pointer to the FHS, I was simply not aware that /etc/X11 was standard. The world of FHS and Linux in general is not all-encompassing; on Solaris 8 and 9 for example /etc/X11 does not exist by default. configure-controlled programs tend to place things in $PREFIX/etc (unless told otherwise), which adds to the confusion. > So please read the FHS and then come back again.
