Thanks to another assault of 24 or so porn spam link edits the other
morning, I have decided to stop linking to the wiki from the Ion homepage,
and have blanked the Wiki front page. (Let's see how long it takes until it
is filled with porn links.) Compulsory login didn't help at all, and there's
no point in using the wiki until this problem is solved. There are four
possible solutions as far as I can see:

  * Someone enthusiastic enough (not me) writes a spam link removal crawler
    for the current wiki.

  * Move to some other wiki software with more spam prevention mechanisms
and hope it works. Requires service provider; see the recent thread
on the future of this mailing list for additional thoughts.

  * Forget proper wikis and make my Ion homepage Darcs repository available
to the public to be editable as the script repositories are; see
    <http://iki.fi/tuomov/repos/ion-scripts-3/>.

  * Forget the wiki.

Is the Wiki of much use actually? Most of the content seems out-of-date
and it is otherwise a mess too. Would anyone contribute if it were just a
Darcs repository? There are Darcs builds for various platforms available
these days; see <http://www.scannedinavian.org/DarcsWiki/CategoryBinaries>.
There hasn't been too many contributions to the scripts repositories,
though... What do you think?
