It's always been intended that one of the pathways into OCF
specifications is for a feature to be "proven" in the iotivity
implementation, and then proposed from there.  I couldn't enumerate
them, but there have been such features in the past.  So I don't see a
problem with non-OCF features.

Now we could of course have a discussion about whether these things make
it in in "the right way", whether they're well designed and adaptable to
changes that might happen in the specification process or whether they
become ossified: "we already are depending on that feature this way, so
it has to go in exactly as implemented".  But that's a different
discussion (anybody who's worked with IETF knows the risks and rewards
of going out in front of the standards)
