Hello,
I downloaded the latest ipfilter 4.1.27, and followed instructions to
substitute original solaris packages from here :
http://marc.info/?l=ipfilter&m=112808870127741&w=2
I had several problems ( I had no problems with these instructions 1-2 years
ago on another machine):
- At ipfilter site there is no mention about where to download the latest pfil
sources. Because the tgz file is on the ipfilter root web site, I could not
list what files are available and I had to try by hand until I found the latest
one by using wget in sequence:
http://coombs.anu.edu.au/~avalon/pfil-2.1.6.tar.gz
http://coombs.anu.edu.au/~avalon/pfil-2.1.7.tar.gz
http://coombs.anu.edu.au/~avalon/pfil-2.1.8.tar.gz
http://coombs.anu.edu.au/~avalon/pfil-2.1.9.tar.gz
....until I found the last one available was:
http://coombs.anu.edu.au/~avalon/pfil-2.1.13.tar.gz
- Instructions at the mentioned site explicitly says how to remove the old
packages, but on this machine (T2000 running Solairs 5.10 Generic_118833-36)
something goes wrong: services completely disappear from the machine, so I have
no way to use again svcadm or svcs (I kept svc files as mentioned on the
instructions, but probably package removal has removed something else on this
distribution).
- So I tried manual insertion of pfil modules to see if kernel is ok, and it
worked.
- I decided to continue using old startup files (S10pfil and S65ipfilter),
because services were no more available (simply unknown to the system).
- Then I see that S10pfil fails in inserting the modules, simply autopush
doesn't work (I have the correct autopush file where it's looking at).
To make it work, I had to put 2 last commands after autopush to force modinsert:
                ifconfig ce0 modinsert [EMAIL PROTECTED]
                ifconfig e1000g0 modinsert [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I would prefer to continue using the new service tools, and also I don't
understand what's wrong with autopush.
Someone has any idea?
Thanx
Gabriele.
