I agree with Tom about the sweeps and staircases. This also makes one more sure that they actually have the test and they can continue to listen to ID the code. As we saw with the non test from WOON, a couple DXers reported bits of code, but the test did not run.
Things on crowded channels sometimes sd/lk traces of code. 73 KAZ

Though Morse Code can be easily identifible something with a little more
punch is needed to hear a DX Test from futher away on a crowded channel. My
recommendations are to use sweep tones and staircase waves if at all
possible. As others have mentioned the sweeps and staircase waves really
punch through the mush on a crowded channel. One such experience here is
from the WKDK 1240khz DX Test from Newberry, SC back in Feb. 2008. The
morse code was buried in the mud and only bits and pieces were heard. But
the sweeps and staircase waves made it easily here on the peaks (the high
frequency
portions of both type of wave forms).

We all know that there are fewer and fewer tests each year. Just trying to
make it easier for more DX'ers to have a chance at hearing a test and in
this case from a rare state. My two cents worth......
