Apple makes only routers, so you'll still need a separate modem. If Charter is like a lot of other cable companies, you can buy your own modem as long as it's a model that Charter can support.
Does Charter charge you a monthly fee for the Arris box? If so, it's probably cheaper in the long run to buy your own modem or modem/router combo. For example, when my cable op started charging $5/month for a modem, I returned it and bought my own. It cost ~$70, so it paid for itself after 14 months. Since my original post below, I switched to an AirPort Extreme to get better coverage throughout my house. As with the Time Capsule, I haven't noticed any QRM on any band. > > >------------------------------ > >Message: 7 >Date: Wed, 16 Oct 2013 13:35:27 -0700 >From: Patrick Martin <mwd...@webtv.net> >To: IRCA <irca@hard-core-dx.com> >Subject: Re: [IRCA] Cable Routers OT >Message-ID: <blu177-w27ac457ce045bd43336ccc8...@phx.gbl> >Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" > >Thanks.
