Stealing a bike cant be compared to the piste, if a bike in not locked to something and no one is around (aside from the would be thief of course) then the chances of it being stolen are quite high because you can make a quick get away and dump the bike if need be. The piste on the otherhand has no such benefits, being multi parted, heavy and to most people utterly usless.
