SAFEsuite Decisions supports two relational database platforms, MS Sql
Server on NT or Oracle on Solaris. From a features standpoint, the two
relational database platforms are identical. It's a matter of preference
and comfort when choosing which RDBMS to use. To get a more detailed idea
of the requirements, please review the system requirements document at
http://solutions.iss.net/products/ssd/ssd2.1_sysrqmts.pdf
SAFEsuite Decisions is a multiple piece product and does require
installation of different software components on various machines. Agents
in the field to securely collect data from multiple security products, a
RDBM to store, consolidate, and perform detailed analysis on the data, and a
report structure to generate reports that can be used to manage limited
security resources and to focus on security 'Hot Spots' for quickly
improving security over an enterprise. Therefore, some planning is required
to determine which agents will be deployed, the platform of RDBM that will
be used, who will have access to reports, etc...
Another great document for understanding SSD is the FAQ. It can be found at

Also, check out the initial page that describes SSD in more general terms.

My documentation says that on NT you need to use SQL 7.
