Work Description: 11moon11 commented on issue #10572: [BEAM-8933] Add
performance tests to compare Avro and Arrow read speeds
URL: https://github.com/apache/beam/pull/10572#issuecomment-573882609

   > Do you have any one-off numbers for this?

I failed to run the test on 10 GB BQ table due to Direct runner memory
limitation (JVM probably). But for 15MB BigQuery tables Arrow showed to be
slightly faster.

> As of right now BigQuery uses Avro format for reading and writing.
> We should add a config to BigQueryIO to specify which format to use: Arrow or
> Avro (with Avro as default).
