Claus Ibsen resolved CAMEL-25401.
---------------------------------
Resolution: Fixed
Fixed in https://github.com/apache/camel/pull/27452 (main 43fb0300bd10): fugue
is back on 6.1.5, Dependabot ignores the fugue 7 major, and
JiraFugueJavaVersionTest loads a fugue class so a fugue built for a newer Java
fails the build.
> camel-jira - fugue 7.0.1 is compiled for Java 25, so camel-jira fails on Java
> 17 and 21

> Dependabot bumped {{io.atlassian.fugue:fugue}} from 6.1.5 to 7.0.1 on main
> (bac605380ad3, 2026-09-14). fugue 7.0.1 is compiled for Java 25 (class file
> version 69; 6.1.5 is Java 8, version 52). With it, camel-jira cannot start on
> Java 17 or 21:
> {noformat}
> UnsupportedClassVersionError: io/atlassian/fugue/Suppliers has been compiled
> by a more recent version of the Java Runtime (class file version 69.0)
> {noformat}
> Reproduced with the jira-source Kamelet route of the camel-kamelets
> integration tests: on Java 21 the route fails with the error above, on Java
> 25 it starts and calls Jira. The camel-kamelets JiraIT failed in every run
> once its Camel apps ran on Java 21. The Camel build did not catch it, as the
> camel-jira tests use a mocked Jira client and never load a fugue class.
> No known vulnerability is listed for any fugue version (OSV), and 6.1.5 is
> what 4.22.x ships.
> Fix for 4.23.0:
> * go back to fugue 6.1.5;
> * a camel-jira test that loads a fugue class, so a jar compiled for a newer
> Java fails the build;
> * Dependabot ignores fugue's major 7, which needs Java 25: revisit when
> Camel's minimum Java is 25 (dropping Java 17 after 4.23.0 makes the minimum
> 21, which is still not enough).
