The C code contains even more checks, so I'd rather leave them in for now.
As for BitInputStream I'm sure it could be improved and it will may really be
worth it as the class is used by bzip2 as well - which is probably used by more
people than we'll see for Deflate64. The JIT might be doing a good job anyway,
though, as the byte order for every instance of the class is constant. If you
want to give it a try, then please just open an enhancement request yourself.
