Note, this also fixes another issue where not getting a primary parameter means
we try to incorrectly connect to localhost. We clearly need a bunch of unit
tests as part of this plugin before we can start accepting more patches.
Additionally, we should do something about Hash-based shard keys. Currently,
this returns incorrect data (no records when records exist). We need to fall
back to single reader mode (or alternatively, fail the query).
