I agree, we should definitely resolve the root cause of this. I was able to
reproduce this on my end, but only on VMs. Everything on my dev machine ran
smoothly.
On the flip side, I think we should still handle the issue of the 'bad
messages'. If you want, I can merge those into
[DRILL-1305|https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DRILL-1305].
