Nick Couchman commented on GUACAMOLE-288:
-----------------------------------------

[~kano90] [~kelderek]:

Thanks for your interest in this. A couple of thoughts from me:
 * I'm not opposed to someone jumping in and beginning to implement this, so if
either of you would like to fork the code and contribute, by all means, go for
it. No one else in the current development community has taken up the
challenge, despite the fact that this appears to be a reasonably popular issue
(15 votes and 22 watchers is reasonably high for a Guacamole Jira issue). I
don't get paid to develop/support Guacamole, so the amount of time I have to
spend on it is pretty limited, and taking up this challenge is not something I
see happening in my near-future.
 * I do not believe that the correct answer is to "drop the discussion about
usability" or "[get] multiple monitor support functional..., even with a
sup-optimal user experience. This makes me a bit uncomfortable. My personal
experience tells me that 1) user experience matters, and 2) that it is often
better to not support something at all than to support it 50% or 75% or 90% of
the way and lack the polish that people expect. In my experience this generally
results in higher levels of user frustration than just saying, "Sorry,
currently that feature is not supported."
 * I'm not necessarily sure we have to give up user experience or usability,
here, though - I suspect there are ways that we could enable this that wouldn't
involve sub-optimal experience for users. I'm not sure I know what they are,
but it doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility - we've discussed some
potential options in the past. I think the biggest issue, here, is getting
someone to develop it that has time, interest, incentive, and/or expertise for
it, and then finding and agreeing upon a solution that enables it that doesn't
result in a user experience that's more frustrating than not having it.

[~mjumper] [~ceharris] [~jmuehlner] any thoughts on this one??

> Hello,
> I'm wondering if multi monitor support for RDP (and maybe even VNC?) is on
> Guacamole's roadmap? Currently, when we RDP to a workstation with multiple
> displays, we only see the primary display. Can't find any options in the
> connection settings to configure multiple monitors.
> I've found a ticket on the old Jira where a developer suggested it may be a
> trivial fix that involves adding a few flags and then the ticket went quite
> in 2015...so just wondering if this feature is in fact being added and if
> there is any ETA for it?
> Thank you
