The patch here was a bit more aggressive in replacing most of the "managed" 
connection usage  which I guess turned out very hard to proceed the review 
process. 

Shall we break this into more bitable pieces? Some stuff has already went in 
around these. Should we close this and open smaller jiras? [~ndimiduk] wdyt?
