But I do not think the precommit job could read our document and change the
default protoc when building HBase...
Is it possible to make use of
[protobuf-maven-plugin|https://www.xolstice.org/protobuf-maven-plugin/] when
building hbase-protocol-shaded? It can download the protoc artifact(starting
from version 2.6.1) from the maven repo.
And, any concerns of the patch here? [~stack]
