mattcasters opened a new pull request, #8842:
URL: https://github.com/apache/hop/pull/8842

   A missing VFS library throws `Error` (`NoClassDefFoundError`,
`ExceptionInInitializerError`), not `Exception`. The file explorer's background
listings only caught `Exception`, so the operation stayed running, the status
line at the bottom kept ticking, and the stack trace showed up only on the Hop
GUI console.

Listings, folder changes, and opening a file now record that failure. The
status line stops and names the missing class. A folder whose children cannot
be read, or that fails because the provider itself is broken, is reported
instead of looking like an empty refresh. One unreadable file still does not
hide the rest of the folder. Stop still cancels the operation.
